С 3-по 8 марта 1970 года в Брашове, Румыния проходил третий фестиваль популярной музыки, который назывался "Золотой олень". Соревновались там 30 исполнителей очень разного уровня. Не упомню почти ни одного из перечисленных конкурсантов. К примеру - "Золотой олень" достался голландской певице Тереза Стейнмец? (боюсь ошибится с фамилией). Серебряные - бельгийской певице Лиз Марке и румынке Анжеле Симилеа. Бронзовый - болгарской певице Паше Христовой.

Вот сайт Брашова и там страница о фестивале. Отдельно есть 1970 год. Указаны победители конкурсной программы (внизу страницы). Рафаэль упомянут как гость, но о нем и его выступлении рассказа нет.

The Third Edition of The Golden Stag Festival - 1970
The third edition of The Golden Stag Festival started two days earlier than the previous editions. Between March 3rd - March 7th, the Dramatic Theatre in Brasov was the host of the big musical event of the year in Romania.
As usual the opening cocktail was offered by the mayor (Constantin Sutu) one day before the first contest, at the Army House in the Column Hall. On the first night of the festival, the National Jazz Orchestra under the direct lead of Sile Dinicu opened the contest. They also did the accompaniment for the competitors.
The festival was broadcast by 30 televisions from all around the world.
In the hors-concurs shows the audience met: Connie Francis, Memphis Slim and Josephine Baker, as well as famous Romanian artists like Doina Spataru.
The Golden Stag Trophy went to Holland to Therese Steinmetz.
The third edition of The Golden Stag Festival ended on 7th of March, at the Carpati Restarant (nowadays - Aro Palace Restaurant), with a fancy dinner party.

Josephine Baker
Josephine Baker was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 3, 1906 to a washerwoman Carrie McDonald and a vaudeville drummer named Eddie Carson. Her real name is Freda Josephine Carson. Short after she was born her father left the family and her mother married an unemployed man named Arthur Martin.
She grew up cleaning houses, babysitting for white families, and for a short period got a job as waitress at The Old Chauffeur's Club. Here she met her first husband, Willie Wells. She was married and divorced three more times, to American Willie Baker in 1921 (whose last name she chose to keep), Frenchman Jean Lion in 1937 (from whom she attained French citizenship) and French orchestra leader Jo Bouillon in 1947 (who helped to raise her 12 adopted children).
At the beginning of her career she toured the United States with The Jones Family Band and The Dixie Steppers performing various comical skits. A turning point in her career was La Revue Negre performed in Paris, when Josephine and her dance partner Joe Alex captivated the audience. Like critics said she was an overnight sensation.
In the early `30s, Josephine was a star in two movies, Zou-Zou and Princess Tam-Tam. That`s the time when she moved her family from St. Louis to Les Milandes, her estate in Castelnaud-Fayrac, France.
Being a star in Europe she thought she would be able to obtain the same success in the United States. So she returned home in 1936. Unfortunately the American audience rejected the idea of a black woman in the showbizz, and Josephine returned to Europe heartbroken.
She served France during World War II performing for the troops, and doing undercover work for the French Resistance. Later she was awarded with the Medal of the Resistance with Rosette and named a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the French government.
During the '50s and the '60s she fought racism and adopted 12 children of different ethnicities and religions.
On March 1970, at The Golden Stag Festival Josephine performed a medley of routines from her 50 year career. The reviews were among her best ever. Romanian audience simply adored the black singer.
Josephine Baker died from a cerebral hemorrhage on April 12, in Paris, after a very successful concert attended by several celebrities (Sophia Loren and Princess Grace of Monaco).
In 1991, HBO released The Josephine Baker Story, a movie awarded with two Emmys (for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries - Lynn Whitfield and Outstanding Art Direction), a Golden Globe Award and two Golden Globe nominations.
Memphis Slim
Born Peter Chatman on September 3rd, 1915, Memphis Slim grow up in Memphis, where he worked in blues clubs picking up valuable hints from other piano players. He used to play in nightclubs in Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, before moving to Chicago in 1939. It was the year he made his debut as a recording artist.
He used his nickname, Memphis Slim, in 1940 when he worked for Bluebird. Together with the guitarist Big Bill Broonzy he played in the blues clubs in Chicago recording until 1944, the year when Slim formed The House Rockers, a seven-piece band that included a sax section.
During the 1940s and 1950s, Slim recorded for important music companies including Miracle, Chess, and Folkways. He also performed together with artists like Willie Dixon and Sonny Boy Williamson.
In 1960, Slim decided to leave Chicago and resettle there. Tow years after he moved to Paris where again he recorded for a variety of important music companies during the '60s, the '70s and the '80s.
Memphis Slim died in 1988. He was inducted into the Blues Foundation's Hall of Fame one year after his death.
People say his ancestors were Watusi of African origin.
Connie Francis at The Golden Stag Festival - March 3rd, 1970
Connie Francis did an awesome performance at The Golden Stag Festival in Brasov. She was absolutely fabulous and she didn't miss a beat! The concert began right after the first competitors were introduced to the audience. Over 800 hundred fans applauded her while she made the entrance from the back of the stage.
The overture began with fans singing along. Connie made her entrance as the orchestra played the up-tempo version of Come e prima. The audience gave her an extended standing ovation and everyone was going wild! She opened the performance by singing Mamma.
Connie looked beautiful! She was wearing black pants with a red top and black shoes with high hills.
The audience sang along with Connie all her big hits including La Bamba, Strangers in the Night and Over the Rainbow. Everyone was excited to see Connie Francis perform!
This concert was part of The Golden Stag Festival so Connie said few words for Romanians during her performance: "I have strong feelings for your country. My boyfriend's father is of Romanian origin, and my manager` parents were born in Romania. I have had all the reasons to be here tonight with you. I think you are great people and you have a beautiful country."
At the end of her concert no one wanted her to leave the stage, so Connie sang an emotional version of a popular Romanian song with everyone standing and singing along. Many people were even crying - that is how beautiful it was.
Connie donated the money she received for her performance to the orphan children. After the show she stayed in the lobby signing autographs and talking with her fans.
The artist stayed at the Carpati Hotel in the presidential suite for three nights. She was very impressed by the Romanian cuisine.
